Mission Up The Creek for 3 Men in a Boat – Bitter Start to Peace Parley

Port-Harcourt, May 24, 1968 – The Biafran Navy sent me sailing up the creek today. In a tiny flat-bottomed skiff with two paddles to see if Federal troops are occupying Port-Harcourt, Biafra’s most important city.

What they didn’t tell me – or Daily Express photographer, David Cairns, and our escort of one Biafran armed with a bolt-action rifle:- There was a Russian-rocket launcher crew and a platoon of troops waiting for us.

Bitter Start to Peace Parley

Kampala, May 24, 1978 – The hatreds engendered by the Nigerian civil war showed no signs of softening today as peace talks started inn Uganda’s capital city, Kampala.
