JUNGLE NURSE SAVES WAR BABY

Diane North,Canadian volunteer nurse who arrived in Nigeria in 1964 two years before the war, helps save the life of baby Chimezie in Olokoro Umuahia in today’s Abia state during the Biafran war 1967 – 1970. As is widely known women and children are the perenial victims of every war, but a lot international help was afforded Biafra via CARITAS, Red Cross, Joint Church aid and the newly formed ‘Doctors Without Borders’, also the Catholic Chuch with its host of supportive Irish reverend fathers who stayed behind to help the suffering and dying Biafrans and many more other charity and voluntary organisations, including unknown individuals who just came down to help out and show their humanity. War is indeed futile.
