WHITE MEN BOUND AND BEATEN UP

This report is about the 2 Brits i mentioned in earlier post about the Nigerian invasion and capture of Port Harcourt during the Biafran war, the Nigerian army landed on Bonny Island on the 25th of July 1967 but couldn’t make it up the Port Harcourt river which was a short distance of 56 miles to the 2nd most important town in Biafra at the time.

Instead according to Brig Alabi Isama of the the invading Nigerian army 3rd Div or Marine Commandos,  chose to march via the Calabar sector which added a further 400 miles to the military objective due to the doggedness of the Biafran forces instead of 56 miles; especially the Biafran Navy (I will review a book about them), not a lot of credit is given to the Biafran Navy but i think they did an enormous and commendable job during the war, Commodore Ukiwe and Rear Admiral Madueke and  P. J. Odu all discharged themselves very well.

When finally the Nigerian forces made it into Port Harcourt in May 1968; 10 months after trying, chaos ensued as the Biafrans made a hash of the city’s evacuation and the victorious Nigerians caught them off guard in many place forcing them to abandon many valuable military, scientific, logistical, financial and food stuffs in huge bulks. the attached report shows what happened when the Nigerian troops apprehended 2 British citizens and accused them of being Biafran supporters or sympathizers, well enough of my rantings and please enjoy the article.

But before i go, I have always wondered what happened to the young black boy arrested with the white men ?? notice that he was bound up whilst the white men weren’t for obvious reasons ?, if the white men get brutalized, then I’m guessing he was probably shot and killed, I’ll research further.
